Moraine State Park is located along Route 422 in Butler County. See the Pennsylvania DCNR website for directions. The trail is on the north shore of Laker Arthur. Follow the signs from the interstate.

The bicycle trail in Moraine State Park follow the north shore of Lake Arthur, twisting through woods and meadows as it goes. There are lots of places to take in the scenery and plenty of wildflowers, despite the crown vetch. The trail passes the swimming beach, the windsurfing beach, boat launches, and picnic areas. A snack bar and marina are located at the end of the trail. Bicycle rentals are available at the beginning.

This is not a rail trail, and the twisty, hilly nature of the trail makes it surprisingly challenging for its short length. But then, you never get to coast downhill without peddling uphill first. (Actually, this applies to more than just trails.)

  • Completed Length: 7 miles
  • Connecting Trails: None
  • Surface: Asphalt
  • Topography: Hummocky, with numerous short but steep slopes
